The Mast & Towers Safety Group stipulate that all technicians must be registered on the Energy & Utility Skills Registry System - Quartzweb – to gain access to and work on Arqiva, CTIL, EE, Vodafone, Telefonica, BT, Network Rail & other MATs group member sites.under the accreditation scheme. Course costs includes EUS registration fee and EUS ID Card.
This course meets the MATS specification and is designed to give delegates who are looking at entering the industry the knowledge & understanding on safe working practices for working on radio towers / structures and conduct the rescue of incapacitated or injured climber(s).
Delegates must be over 18 and speak English. They must be physically fit / able to work at height and free from any medical condition that could prevent them from climbing. They will be required to complete a medical declaration.
Certification valid for 1 year. Tower Climber & Rescue Refresher training will need to be carried out every 12 months thereafter.
With effect from 14/02/22 EUSR will be issuing virtual ID cards. Following registration of training an SMS message will be sent to you directly where you can download the Vircarda App to your mobile phone. For more information please visit the EUSR by click on this link.
Completion of this course will be accepted on the Arqiva Gateway, CTIL, EE, Vodafone, Telefonica, BT, network Rail & other MATs group member sites.under the accreditation scheme.

The Tower Climber & Rescue (Renewal) is a refresher course for those who have completed a climbing course and gained experience in the last 12 months and wishing to revalidate their certificate. Its purpose is to evaluate the knowledge & understanding of individuals on safe working practices for working on radio towers / structures and conduct the rescue of incapacitated or injured climber(s) Tower Climber courses are held at our dedicated centre in Daventry, Northants.
Delegates must be able to speak English and must have obtained their MATS Tower Climb and Rescue Initial Validation (3 day) or MATS Advanced Climber course. They must be physically fit / able to work at height and free from any medical condition that could prevent them from climbing. They will be required to complete a medical declaration.

MATS / EUSR Approved Training Provider
Please note - with effect from 1st January 2023 the course will be accredited by EUSR - Rooftop Worker Safety and Access Scheme. An additional registration fee will be payable which has already been incorporated into the course cost.
The Rooftop Worker – Safety & Access scheme is designed to support the safety of those individuals who access and work on flat roofs. It provides a framework to support consistency and relevance in training provision and assessment of competence.
Developed in collaboration with the Telecommunications industry “Mast and Tower Safety Group”, the scheme recognises the underpinning knowledge and skills required to climb fixed ladders, access flat roof tops, use personal fall protection equipment, work safely whilst on the roof top as well as rescue considerations.
This scheme covers the minimum training and assessment required for those individuals whose roles require them to work safely on flat roof tops and incorporates the relevant requirements of HSE legislation. This scheme is designed and available for use by all industries.
It is delivered in one day where both knowledge and practical elements are assessed and consists of the following units:
- Understanding legislation and safety standards
- Managing common hazards
- Assessing risk
- Using harnesses
- Using fall arrest lanyards
- Using fixed fall arrest and restraint systems
- Using work positioning lanyards or similar equipment
- Selecting appropriate anchor points
- Setting up and using temporary work restraint systems
- Working with edge protection systems
- Using additional fall protection equipment
- Consideration of emergencies and rescue arrangements
- Suspension syncope awareness
- Lifting and lowering kit
- Demonstrating climbing techniques on fixed ladders
Training is held at our dedicated training centre in Daventry, Northants.
Delegates must be aged over 18 and be fluent in English. They must be physically fit and free from any medical conditions that might prevent them working at height. They will be required to complete a medical declaration.
Successful completion of this course will be accepted by Arqiva, Cellnex, MBNL, CTIL, EE, Vodafone, Telefonica, BT, Network Rail and other MATs group member sites under the accreditation scheme.
Important: While RF is discussed briefly on this course. delegates will still need to attend the Radio Frequency (RF) Safety Awareness course to gain access to Telecoms sites
This Asbestos Awareness course is specifically designed to increase the general awareness of those individuals who may encounter Asbestos as part of their day to day activities such as maintenance staff, tradesmen etc. It will provide delegates with a clear understanding of Asbestos, how it can be identified, its dangers, where it may be found & actions to be taken. The Asbestos awareness course is held at our dedicated training centres in Watford, Herts and Daventry, Northants or onsite at clients premises
Arqiva Approved Training Provider
Radio Frequency (RF) is present on many areas where personnel work. This Arqiva approved course is designed to explain in layman terms the hazards of working in such areas and outlines the steps to be taken in order to ensure their safety. Identification of RF areas, avoidance and first aid are covered on the course. RF Safety Awareness courses are held at our centres in Watford, Herts and Daventry, Northants or onsite at client premises.
Delegates must be fluent in English
Successful completion of this course will be accepted on the Arqiva Gateway (Site Access) system.
Arqiva Approved Training Provider
The Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (incorporating at heights) whilst delivered to the regulated standard, will be additionally certified to include subjects related to `at height'. The course is designed to offer essential basic skills and knowledge required to administer emergency first aid at work for those who work at height until someone more qualified is available to take charge of the situation.The Emergency First Aid at Work (incorporating at heights) courses are held at our dedicated centres in Watford, Hertfordshire and Daventry, Northants or onsite at client premises.
Delegates must be fluent in English. The course is delivered and assessed in English only
